Adopted Cats 2012

"Elaine" came back to DunRoamin' on April 7, 2012, from Bath, NB where she had been adopted in 2006 by a lady for her daughter who had medical problems which included such things as seizures. Elaine immediately fell in love with the daughter and they became best friends. Elaine would always run to tell people if her friend was experiencing difficulties, and she is attributed to saving her life on numerous occasions and was the subject of a newspaper article detailing this. Elaine's friend is now in a medical facility, and her mother is moving into a nursing home. Sadly, Elaine is not allowed to live in either facility with her family whom she loves so much. They miss her terribly and hope she'll find a home where she'll be appreciated for the wonderful and caring girl that she is. She was born about 2004.

Elaine was fostered with a wonderful young lady who enjoyed her company, and most of all let her sleep on the bed with her at night! Elaine loves that! On December 25, 2012, Elaine became the best Christmas present ever! She's there to stay, folks! Merry Christmas, Elaine!

Meet "Gretel." On January 25, 2011, two 10-week old female kittens came to DunRoamin'.  They were feral, cold, hungry and very scared.  They had a terrible number of parasites, including fleas, ear mites and worms.  All these troubles were quickly addressed.

Gretel and her sister Gadget came from Bristol where a senior citizen had seen them, their mother and another kitten in the snow outside her apartment.  The temperatures had been colder than -25*C and when you add in the wind chill, few creatures, if any, could survive outdoors for long on their own in that kind of cold.

Even with the terribly cold temperatures, when the lady saw them in her back yard, she left her patio door open so they could come in where it was warm and get some food.  Even as feral as they were, they recognized compassion and came slowly inside.  When the senior citizen would get up to close the door, they'd run back outside.  She finally trapped two of them in her apartment, and they came to us for help. Gretel has lived with us ever since.

On December 22, 2012, Gretel met a lovely British couple from Bedell. Gretel's not usually the social type, especially with new people, but she immediately made up to them by rubbing against them and making herself the centre of attention. In no time she had them! She'll live with them now, along with her friend Tiltman (see below). Merry Christmas, Gretel! Write soon! We'll all miss you! See you on Facebook!

"Tiltman" came to us on October 17, 2012 when he was observed hanging around an apartment building in Woodstock. He had bad fleas, was very dirty and had a pronounced head tilt which could indicate a number of problems. He was not capable of surviving all alone outdoors in this condition. He was brought for help.

Tiltman's basic needs were addressed and his head tilt also got a bit better with the assistance of dedicated medical care. He'll always have a bit of a tilt, but that doesn't slow him down in the least. He's a very affectionate and loving little boy who really enjoys the company of people and other cats.

On December 22, 2012, Tiltman was introduced to a couple from Bedell, and of course he wooed them as he does everyone. They couldn't resist his abundance of charm, so he now lives with them, along with his friend Gretel (see above). Thanks, Claire and Tony, for giving these two their first Christmas with a home and family. Merry Christmas. Please keep in touch.

"YumYum" and her siblings Frost, Frisky, Creak and NumNum came to DunRoamin' on November 1, 2012 after having been found wrapped in a towel at an empty home in Johnville. The lady who owned the home had been in a manor for some time and had passed away the previous week. People checking the house happened to find these little ones, and they're very lucky to have been found. It was a really cold night and the towel really wouldn't have helped much. They were starving and had fleas. They were born about October 5, 2012. YumYum is black and white and is seen her with her sibling Frost who has yet to find a home.

On December 20, 2012 YumYum was adopted by a lady in Perth-Andover who has been waiting for the perfect little girl. Congratulations, YumYum! Merry Christmas!

"Agnogg" came to DunRoamin' on December 23, 2011 from the Fielding area where a lady had noticed cat footprints that indicated the cat only had three legs. She put out food and kept a sharp eye out until this little one-year old girl came onto her deck. She was timid, but much more hungry than scared. Her left front leg had been traumatically removed. She was thin, starving, exhausted and had tapeworms. In addition, her right eye had received a previous injury which may lead to blindness in that eye. These injuries may have occurred due to being struck by a vehicle, and it would have happened several weeks ago, as the injuries were older and had never been treated. She would have been in much distress. She was born about December, 2010. She likes other cats, dogs and kids.

Agnogg slept most of the time, as she was exhausted from trying to hunt with only one front leg while trying to stay alive, safe and warm at the same time. She's very grateful to the lady who saved her, and is now being fostered by one of our DunRoamin' Kids where she sleeps on her bed each night. Her staples have been removed, her leg has healed nicely and she easily jumps up onto the bed where she enjoys sleeping in the warm sunshine in the daytime.

On December 18, 2012, we learned that Agnogg will definitely not be leaving her current abode. She has been adopted by her loving family who could not bear the thought of her being anywhere but with them! Merry Christmas!!

On September 20, 2012, "Palmer" came to DunRoamin' from Hartland where he had been scavenging from near recycling bins for about two weeks. A lady went home to get her cat carrier to see if she could help him, and once she had him she realized he needed help. He was born about March, 2010.

Palmer was brought to DunRoamin' where he was examined and found to have bad fleas, he was very thin, dehydrated and had a bad case of upper respiratory infection. He was prescribed antibiotics, given lots of nutritious food and a warm bed, and he settled in gratefully. He was diagnosed with FIV. He's extremely friendly, loving and affectionate.

On December 17, 2012, he was introduced to a couple from Plaster Rock who won his heart. He had no choice but to make them his own. He now lives with them and their numerous other rescues, including Blaire (see below). Merry Christmas, everyone!

"Bramble" came to us on August 22, 2012, along with his brother Bourbon. Both were very ill, and sadly, Bourbon passed away on September 12, despite all available medical care. They were born about the middle of May, 2012.

Bramble lived happily in a foster home with two ex-DunRoamin'strays, two young kids and a dog. He's very playful, cuddly, affectionate and he loves everything.

On December 15, 2012, Bramble was adopted by a young couple from Somerville where he'll be their only pet. Congratulations, Bramble! Send us lots of photos and let us know how you're doing!

"Marcel" came to us on the evening of November 28, 2012 from Florenceville. He was skinny, had fleas and was cold and starving.

He's quite vocal, but that's just because he has lots to say! He was born about the first of August, 2012, and everyone who has met him has fallen for his charms.

On December 7, 2012, Marcel was adopted by a lady who lives in Bedell. He'll now live with her, her three other cats and three dogs. Congratulations, Marcel!

"Frisky," "NumNum" and their siblings Frost, Creak and YumYum came to DunRoamin' on November 1, 2012 after having been found wrapped in a towel at an empty home in Johnville. The lady who owned the home had been in a manor for some time and had passed away the previous week. People checking the house happened to find these little ones, and they're very lucky to have been found. It was a really cold night and the towel wouldn't have helped much. They were starving and had fleas. They were born about October 5, 2012. They're very cute little ones who were fostered by a family who helped them learn to trust.

On December 6, 2012, both Frisky and NumNum were adopted by a family with three children that lives in Centreville. Congratulations!

This is "Blaire." She came to us on October 30, 2012 from Woodstock where she had been found as an orphan. She was only about two weeks old. She had fleas and an eye infection and was much too young to be on her own. She needed help to eat, pee and poop, so she was cared for by a vet tech until she was old and healthy enough to be on her own. Blaire is a real sweetheart and is loved by all.

On December 4, 2012, Blaire was adopted by a cat-loving couple in Plaster Rock. Congratulations to everyone! You'll have lots of family now, Blaire - human and four-legged alike!

"Debbie" and her friend Judy came to DunRoamin' on May 31, 2011, from Houlton, ME when they traded themselves for Jerome so he could have a safe and loving home with other FIV-positive cats.  Both girls were already spayed.

Debbie is a shiny pewter gray with a little orange thrown in to highlight her beauty.  She's very affectionate. She was born about January 2009 and was brought to The Ark Sanctuary when she was eight weeks old, where she'd lived ever since. She was a little timid when she first met people, but warmed up very quickly. She's become more affectionate each day as she learns to trust people, and she loves to headbutt and greet you at the door.

On November 23, 2012, Debbie met a young lady and her three-year old daughter and it was love at first sight for both. A couple of hours later, Debbie was purring happily in her bed in her new home in Glassville. Congratulations, Debbie! Please stay in touch.

"Jagger" came to us on October 1, 2012 from the Hartland area where he had been a stray who had lived near a house where people ensured he had food and shelter. Unfortunately, they had to move away and did not want him to have no one to care for him. He was born about the first of June, 2012, and he's very cuddly. He loves people, other cats, being patted, playing - you name it, he loves it!

On November 12, 2012, Jagger became a permanent member of a family in Florenceville, along with his best friend Muffin (see below). They are the two new best friends of a young DunRoamin' volunteer, and we're very happy for all three of them! Congratulations!

"Muffin" came to us on October 1, 2012 from the Centreville area. She was part of a colony of cats who was in danger of being drowned. She's only a kitten who was born about the first of June and hasn't even experienced the love of a family yet. How could this be right?

Muffin and Jagger (see above) are best friends. She quickly learned from him that she's safe and that people love her. She learned to purr when picked up, and she's become very cuddly.

On November 12, 2012, Muffin and her friend Jagger were both adopted by a young lady in Florenceville. She's one of our youngest DunRoamin' Kids, and we're very happy that she and her family chose these two beautiful little beings. Thank you so much for making them part of such a loving family!

"Price" came to us on October 25, 2012 when he was found in Florenceville. He had injuries to his right eye which needed medical attention. Although a bit hungry, scared and cold, he was in decent shape. He allowed his vet to make the necessary incisions to remove some irregular skin from his eye and was happy to receive the care, food, compassion and attention he needed.

He's a very social little boy who is very trusting and affectionate. He thanks the vet who helped him and the lady who rescued him and also left a very generous donation to cover his food and medical care.

On November 3, 2012, he was adopted by the family of his rescuer. Price now lives in Mirimichi, and he's a VERY happy little boy. Congratulations!

"Primrose" came to us on May 11, 2012 from Bristol where she had come as a stray to the home of a lady who was already taking care of nine other cats. Primrose was only about a year old and her fur was full of burdocks, she had a fever and had three large lacerations on her shoulders, perhaps as a result of being attacked by another animal. Primrose was very skinny, and eagerly gulped down lots of food.

All Primrose's medical cares were addressed, and she was happy to be safe, warm and have a full belly. It appears she would like to be a cuddle cat in a loving home if given the opportunity. She's getting better at it each and every day, thanks to our volunteer cuddlers!

On November 3, 2012, a young lady from Oakland arrived to meet her. She'd already fallen in love with her from this photograph, and when they met it was love at first sight from Prim also. She'll now live with this young nursing student in Fredericton. Lots of good study/cuddling time coming up, Prim!

"Vada" came to DunRoamin' on September 20, 2012 from Kilburn. She was approximately four months old, and had the cutest little scratchy meow you've ever heard. She loves people and is adorable. That's why we couldn't imagine why she may have been thrown from a car. She has broken teeth and abrasions to her face, nose and mouth from impacting a hard surface - all very similar injuries to those sustained by other cats who have been abused in the same way. She also had a bad case of fleas.

Vada is not at all put out by the terrible treatment she was shown. She's loving and affectionate and loves other cats and all people.

On November 3, 2012, she met a lady from Rosedale who had heard about her, had seen her photo and was unable to get her out of her mind. Vada is now a permanent family member of that lady, and we're very grateful. Send photos!!

"Sherbet" and his five siblings came to us from Oakland where they were found in a box on the front steps of a home on the morning of September 6, 2012. They were about seven weeks old, were crawling with fleas, had upper respiratory infection, were thin and very hungry.

On October 31, 2012, Sherbet and his brother Butterscotch (see below) were adopted by their foster family in Woodstock. Congratulations to everyone!

"Butterscotch" and his five siblings came to us from Oakland where they were found in a box on the front steps of a home on the morning of September 6, 2012. They were about seven weeks old, were crawling with fleas, had upper respiratory infection, were thin and very hungry.

On October 31, 2012, Butterscotch and his brother Sherbet (see above) were adopted by their foster family in Woodstock. Congratulations to everyone!

"Paula" originally came to DunRoamin' on August 9, 2012 from Woodstock where she was a stray who was in danger from dogs who kept chasing her in an attempt to do her severe harm. She was adopted on September 7, 2012, but unfortunately her new family had to move and through no fault of her own she was unable to accompany them.

Paula is a beautiful little girl. She loves other cats, especially kittens, and is very affectionate and loving. She`s currently staying in a foster home with several other cats and is doing exceptionally well there. She hopes for another chance at a permanent home soon.

On October 26, 2012, Paula got the thrill of her life when she was adopted by the family of Sharon and Tex (see below), whom she had taken in when they needed a mom. Thanks to her new family!

"Phelps" came from a retail pet food distributor in western New Brunswick on July 4, 2012 when DunRoamin' volunteers visiting the store learned that people there were drowning numerous unwanted kittens. Phelps had somehow avoided this fate so far, and he was very fortunate that our volunteers arrived to rescue him. It is hoped that the SPCA will redouble their efforts to ensure that this type of cruel, disgusting and heartbreaking behaviour will not continue to occur and that these actions will be met with appropriate repercussions. There are always alternatives, and we grieve that none were sought for these young babies.

Phelps was born about May 1, 2012. He purrs and kneads and loves people. He easily wins the hearts of each person he meets each day.

On October 23, 2012, Phelps was adopted by a great family in Perth-Andover. He's got his own kids, now, so he's in seventh heaven. Send lots of updates, Phelps!

On May 25, 2012, "Harvard" came to DunRoamin' when Vet Clinic staff exited the building to find a box of four baby kittens on the steps where they had been left during the day with no notice. Harvard, his brother Cheshire and sisters 'Puter and Berkley were only about five-and-a-half weeks old. They had fleas, worms and were very small. Sadly, Berkley was unable to survive, despite all medical efforts.

All were small and required medical care. We had no idea where their mother was, so they had to be syringe-fed every few hours. They were fostered by a Vet Tech to ensure they got the medical care and attention they required.

On October 20, 2012, Harvard was adopted by a young couple in Fredericton where he'll be company for their one-and-a-half year-old cat. Congratulations, everyone!

"Tac" originally came to us as a kitten in September, 2008, from Perth-Andover where he had been left on the doorstep of a Clinic employee along with his two siblings.  He was adopted, but brought back due to allergies in his new family.  He was adopted a second time, but on January 25, 2011, Tac was brought back once again because the family had also developed allergies.  He was born about the middle of August, 2008.

Tac is a beautiful cat.  He's loving, attentive, and lives to be patted and have humans pay attention to him.  He's very long and tall, but very slim.  On January 31, 2011, he went to stay in a foster home in Woodstock.  He'll be foster family for two ex-DunRoamin' strays, Thompson (Mr Cat) and Morticia.

On October 15, 2012, Tac officially became a permanent member of his foster family. We hope to hear from you in the near future to know how you're doing. We miss you!

"Cimone" and her sister Celine came to DunRoamin' on July 16, 2010 from the Hartland area where they had been found in a barn all alone.  There was no mother to care for them.  They were heavily infested with parasites and were hungry, although they were not as scared as you might expect.  It seemed they realized that people were trying to help them.  Cimone was very cuddly, while Celine was a tiny bit timid, but that didn't last long.

Cimone was born about the middle of March, 2010, and she's very loving and affectionate. As of December 31, 2010 Cimone lived in a foster home in Woodstock while she awaited a permanent home.

On October 15, 2012, Celine was made a permanent member of her foster home. She's lived there for almost two years, so she definitely belongs. We'd like to thank her family for giving her a home. Congratulations, Cimone.

"Rick" came to us on July 4, 2012, from Richmond Settlement, NB where he had been a stray in the area for several years. This morning, a family dog had discovered him under a house and alerted his family. Rick was immediately brought for help. He was about seven years old and had an abscess on his rear end near his tail, partial paralysis in his hind legs and was thin and had badly-infected ears and teeth. He also had lice, scrapes on the front of both back legs and feet, several small wounds on his neck and behind his ears, bite wounds on his back end which were at least a couple of weeks old, and he was severely dehydrated.

Rick was exhausted, but patiently endured a physical examination and x-ray. He politely accepted canned food mixed with warm water which he gingerly ate, then fell into a contented sleep, purring his gratitude for gentle hands, kind voices, a warm bed and pain medication. In order to make sure that we're doing the very best possible for him, on July 7, 2012, a kind veterinarian friend of the Florenceville Vet Clinic and DunRoamin' offered to treat him with acupuncture to give him the best chance at full recovery. Thanks, Ali. As always, we really appreciate your help and support.

On October 15, 2012, Rick was adopted by an employee where he was receiving his treatment. He had fallen head over heels for her and followed her everywhere. The sentiment was returned, and he now lives permanently in Fredericton. Thanks to all who made this possible. He's a lucky little boy.

"Prowl" was abandoned at the Carleton Co-Op on July 16, 2012 when a lady dropped him at the Monday sale. The lady returned on Thursday night to bring him a hotdog. When Co-Op staff realized that he was there and probably hadn't eaten for several days, they made it their mission to find him and gave him kitten food. Then they called for help.

Prowl was born about May 15, 2012. He was very thin, very hungry and had a bad case of earmites which made him extremely uncomfortable. Despite all that, he was very happy to have been rescued and was friendly, affectionate, purring, kneading, head butting and thanking his new friends in every way he knew how. He was the first one to greet you, to jump on your lap, and to purr and headbutt. He LOVES people!

On October 15, 2012, he was adopted by a family in Centreville which has two young children. He'll be in heaven with his own captive audience, and he'll be sleeping on their bed every night! Congratulations, Prowl! Write often!

"Neopolitan" and her five siblings came to us from Oakland where they were found in a box on the front steps of a home on the morning of September 6, 2012. They were about seven weeks old, were crawling with fleas, had upper respiratory infection, were thin and very hungry.

They got the best of care and were ready for homes quickly. They were fostered in Centreville by a kind cat lover.

On October 6, 2012 Neopolitan met the little girl who would quickly fall in love with her. They now live in Florenceville where they'll be best friends forever. Please write often!

"Tupee" came to us on October 2, 2012 from Woodstock where he was a stray who had a bad abscess on his face. He's an older boy, most probably born sometime in 2004. He's a real sweetheart, and without the help from his rescuer, would have been in much worse shape much quicker.

Tupee was treated with antibiotics and lots of love and care, exactly as he deserved.

On October 5, 2012, Tupee was adopted by a lady in Woodstock who had become smitten with him. And who wouldn't?? Look at that face! Those eyes! Congratulations, Tupee!

"Sunday" came to us on August 19, 2012 from Bath. She was only about two months old and had apparently been caught in a fan blade of a vehicle. She had a broken right front elbow and the skin had been torn from her two right hind toes.

Sunday was fed by syringe. She underwent surgery for her front leg on Monday, August 20 and she did really well. She got a great foster home as of August 31st!

On September 29, 2012, Sunday was adopted by a lady in Fredericton. The final stage of her new life has begun and we're grateful to all who helped make it possible.

"Rumour" came to us on the afternoon of May 27, 2012 from Juniper. She was the mother of the little babies, Rhyme and Reason. She had been struck by a car the previous evening and was believed to be dead, but she came back to her house the next afternoon. She was badly injured.

Rumour was only about a year old and her encounter with the vehicle resulted in broken teeth and a broken jaw. She had fleas, and was thin - probably partially as a result of feeding her two young babies. Rumour had to have her jaw wired shut and be fed by a tube until she was healed enough to eat on her own, then numerous tooth fragments had to be removed from her mouth. She's a very lucky little girl. As you can see, she's fine now. She was extremely happy to be reunited with her babies who have since been adopted. "The rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated." - Mark Twain

On September 29, 2012, Rumour met a couple from Perth-Andover and their young son. She is the perfect new addition to their family. Please send lots of photos, Rumour. Congratulations on your new permanent home!

"Oprah" originally came to us on July 22, 2010 from Greenfield where she and two other kittens were found on the road in danger of being run over. They were thin, covered with fleas and very hungry. She was born about the middle of May, 2010. On October 16, 2010, Oprah was adopted and later moved to Nova Scotia with her family.

On April 26, 2012, Oprah returned to DunRoamin' as her family was moving into a home in which pets were not allowed. Oprah is a beautiful little girl who loves other cats, people and kids. She has had no experience with dogs, but her personality seems to say she'd have no problem. Even after an eight-hour car ride and being placed in a new environment, she is cuddly, purring and confident. She's obviously been raised well. Oprah was fortunate enough to be invited to be a foster cat for a couple in Kincardine in early September, 2012.

On September 28, 2012, Oprah was officially adopted by the couple who has fallen completely head over heals for her. She is the perfect companion for them both, and she's very happy to be a permanent family member. Please send lots of photos and updates, Oprah. Congratulations!

"Jay," "Jenn," "Sam" and "Mandy" came to us on September 7, 2012 when they were left in a box at a local shelter. Unfortunately, due to the large number of strays they were already caring for, the shelter did not have the space or the manpower to help them. They were born about August 1, 2012, had fleas and were really skinny, but seemed to be okay overall. They had no mom, but thankfully were able to eat on their own. They tend to be a little messy about it, but they sure enjoy their food. Jay is a boy, the other three are girls and they're all long-haired and gorgeous.

These little ones were too young to survive in a shelter situation, especially without their mom. They needed a really good foster home, and we're very grateful to Heidi and Robert who stepped up to help them while they put on a little weight and get their bearings.

On September 27, 2012, Jenn and Sam were officially adopted by their foster family in Florenceville. They are extremely grateful to be able to stay in the first home where people loved and cared for them in such a wonderful manner. Thanks very much to their foster family!

"Palin" came to us on August 1, 2012, from the Plaster Rock area where she was found with a really bad upper respiratory infection - one so severe that it was feared she might not survive. But we obviously didn't know this little girl very well. She has a personality and spirit that exceeds the norm, and once she realized that there were people who would love, pat, cuddle and care for her, she was all in!!

Palin was treated for her infection and quickly became healthy again. She is very affectionate and loved her friends Cinna, Prowl and Harvard with whom she lived at DunRoamin'. She particularly loved the kids who would visit her.

On September 25, 2012, Palin was adopted by a young couple from Bath. Her very first night with them she sent photos and a message saying how quickly she had settled in and what a perfect family she had been so fortunate to acquire. Congratulations to Palin and her two humans - thank you SO much!

On September 24, 2012, Jay and Mandy were officially adopted by their new family, and they'll live in Florenceville. Both they and DunRoamin' are very grateful for the help, love and care they received from their foster family. You've made a great difference in their lives, and we thank you very much.

"Pistachio, " "Grapenut" and their four siblings came to us from Oakland where they were found in a box on the front steps of a home on the morning of September 6, 2012. They were about seven weeks old, were crawling with fleas, had upper respiratory infection, were thin and very hungry.

They got the best of care by their foster family in Centreville, and we're very grateful for the assistance. They're obviously well loved.

On September 24, 2012, these two little ones met a lady and her daughter from Plaster Rock and, as you can tell from the photo, it was love at first sight! They'll now live with their new favourite children. Please keep in touch!

"Ursa" was born about the first of June 2010, and had three kittens we named Major, Minor (both girls) and Leo (boy), who were about three months old.  They came to us on June 28, 2011.  The kittens were originally fostered by a family in Brighton, and have all since been adopted.

Ursa is a beautiful and affectionate long-haired calico who was skinny, hungry and had fleas and ear mites  She quickly started eating up a storm, and learned very quickly that all would soon be well.  She quickly became more independent, but she loves other cats and is happy to sleep in a cat pile with her friends. She was fostered by a couple in Wakefield, and . . .

. . . on September 24, 2012, she came back to DunRoamin' specifically to meet a wonderful couple who travelled all the way from Grand Falls just to meet her. Her new family fell quickly in love with her, and she now lives there with them. It was a long wait for the perfect home, but it was worth it! Congratulations!

"Carmen" came to us on April 13, 2012, from the Johnville area where he had appeared at a home and showed the inhabitants his injuries. The lady was well known for helping animals, and she immediately brought him for assistance.

Carmen was wearing a very tight collar about his neck which was immediately removed to make him more comfortable. He's about a year and a half old and was very thin, had earmites and had an injury to his right hind leg which had probably occurred a few days ago. Although he is obviously a nice boy, the pain he was experiencing made him hiss and bite until he realized he was being helped. He was diagnosed with a bad abcess on his leg which was treated. He's a beautiful boy who loves to talk and is very affectionate. He also loves other cats!

On September 21, 2012, Carmen was adopted by a lady in Hartland. He's finally made it home! Thanks, Heather, for making him a happy cat!

"Antonia" came to DunRoamin' on March 30, 2012 from the Riverbank area where she had taken shelter in a barn where there were cattle to help keep her warm. The family who owned the farm had helped her by providing food and shelter as they did to all the little vagrants who often showed up on their doorstep. Antonia was initially scared and it took some doing to catch her, since she appeared not to be spayed. When she was caught, it was learned that she was indeed unspayed, and she also was no wild barn cat!

As she was being treated, she decided that it was safe to show her true colours and immediately started kneading and purring. She's about five or six years old, had an ear infection, and likes both dogs and other cats. She has long beautiful black fur and she's a real snuggler. She thanks her rescuers for giving her a chance to have a family.

On September 21, 2012, Antonia was adopted by a lady from McLaughlin, NB. She is enjoying the pleasure of a loving family, and is grateful to finally have that home she's been dreaming of. Please send lots of updates on your new life, Antonia.

"Rave" was born about September, 2009, and came to us on March 11, 2010 from Houlton where she and her brother Rant traded homes with GC, a FIV+ cat. She was healthy, but timid. She was happy to become a Canadian citizen, though, because she came just as we won the Olympic Gold Medal in hockey!

Rave is a beautiful little long-haired girl. She is very loving and affectionate and loves all her feline friends. She's a favourite of all of us.

On September 20, 2012, Rave was adopted by a lady from Plaster Rock. We're very happy for you both. Congratulations, Rave. It was a long wait, but the best things in life are always worth waiting for!

"Shuri" came to us on August 18 from Wakefield when a lady who was driving to the Shur-Gain Dog Wash saw her on the side of the road. She was obviously in distress, and although the lady tried to find her home, no one would claim her. She brought Shuri directly to a DunRoamin' vet who was volunteering at the Dog Wash.

Shuri had a really bad upper respiratory infection, was thin and starving. She required medical treatment and care by a vet tech to ensure she would get the boost she needed to overcome her medical problems. She received love, care, nutrition and all the other things that a tiny kitten all alone requires.

On September 19, 2012, Shuri was adopted by the vet tech who had no defence against falling in love with her. She'll now live in Halifax. Congratulations!

"Cinna" came to DunRoamin' on May 15, 2012 from the Arthurette area where he and his five siblings had been abandoned. They were only about four weeks old and were all by themselves. Their rescuer had several strays they were trying to care for already, so these little ones became DunRoamin' wards.

Cina and his siblings were fostered by a kind university student, where they learned to be happy, healthy, playful, loving little kittens. Cinna lived at DunRoamin' with his friends Prowl, Harvard, Palin, Kimball and Copper until . . .

. . . September 14, 2012, when he met a lady and her daughter. He's now a member of their family in Hartland. Congratulations, Cinna. Please write often.

"Goya" came to us from the Centreville area on April 18, 2012. She had been urinating and defecating outside of her litter box which usually indicates a problem. She was examined and was determined to have a urinary tract infection which is easily cured with a small bit of medication. She's fine now - no problem!

Goya is a very pretty seven-year old spayed and declawed medium-haired calico beauty, and she's mostly white with a few blotches of colour. Her tail is very colourful. She's very independent, and although she wasn't necessarily a "pickin' up cat" at first, she's very trusting now and enjoys having people around. She is fostered by a couple in Woodstock, and hopes to become a permanent family member!

On September 11, 2012, her hopes were answered. She's now a permanent member of the family, along with Pud and Jonah, another ex-DunRoamin' stray (see below). Thanks to Angela and Paul for giving yet another story a happy ending. Don't forget to write, Goya!

"Paula" came to us on August 9, 2012 from Woodstock where she had been a stray. Dogs had taken to chasing her and kind people were concerned for her safety.

Paula had had kittens in the recent past, as she still was producing milk, but no kittens could be located. She was born about August, 2011 and is a very kind and loving cat. This is evidenced by the story of Mex, Tex and Sharon. Please read below. Paula was fostered by a lady in Meductic.

On September 7, 2012, Paula was officially adopted as a permanent member by her foster mother. She now lives in Meductic with Mex, who was also adopted. Congratulations, everyone!

"Mex" came to DunRoamin' on August 14, 2012 from Plaster Rock where he was found all alone. Only about two weeks old, he was not old enough to eat or pee on his own, let along take care of himself. The lady who rescued Mex was unable to take on his care and the feeding schedule of every four hours, so she asked for help.

Mex arrived at DunRoamin' and was introduced to Paula (see above) who immediately took a liking to him. Paula had already taken in Sharon and Tex, neither of whom were her own babies, but she loved and nursed them just the same. Mex began nursing right away, and Paula bathed and cared for him as if he were her own. They're happy to have a foster home with a wonderful lady in Meductic until they're weaned from Paula and are able to go to a permanent home.

On September 7, 2012, we learned that Mex and Paula were officially made welcome as permanent members of their foster family. Congratulations!

"Effie Trinket" came to DunRoamin' on the evening of May 16, 2012. Vet staff at the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic had observed her fleeing from the dumpster where she had been searching for food, and she had hidden underneath a shed. It appears she may have been dropped off there, as she is a stranger to the neighbourhood.

Upon learning of her location, both Dr Drost and Dr Monteith, realizing that she must be cold, hungry and wet, responded by laying on the muddy gravel on each side of the shed to encourage her to come out. It took a while, but they were not willing to give up on her for even one second! She was eventually caught, and was very scared, but her fear didn't last long. Once taken inside, cleaned up, warmed up and fed, she quickly began purring and settled down in the vet's arms. She was about one year old, had never been spayed, was very skinny and had ulcers in her mouth, but she's perfectly fine now. She thanks the two vets for their dedication and perseverance! "May the odds be ever in your favour, Effie!"

On September 3, 2012, Effie's outgoing and affectionate personality earned her a home with a very nice lady in Woodstock. Congratulations, Effie. Please send us pictures of you and your new family.

"Lois" was found on the road in the Lakeville area on July 25, 2012. She seemed disoriented and unsure of herself. She appeared to need help, so she was brought to DunRoamin' where it was learned that she has cataracts on both eyes. It is unknown what she was doing on that road, and her owners have not been located.

Vets have determined that she can see a bit, so is able to get around, but would never have survived for long on that road. She's very loving and is self-sufficient. She's a beautiful cat who was very happy to be fostered by a great couple in Florenceville. She particularly liked sleeping near (or on) her favourite man!

On September 1, 2012, Lois went to her new home in Plaster Rock with a cat-loving couple who already has several ex-DunRoamin' strays. Lois's friend Bridgeo (see below) was also adopted with her. Congratulations! Please send frequent updates and photos!

"Bridgeo" came to us on July 12, 2012 from the Plaster Rock area where he was observed scrounging around an apartment building. He had no one to care for him and was in danger from vehicles and predators. He's a big ol' tomcat with huge cheeks, and he's 100% sweetheart.

Bridgeo was born about three years ago and is in decent physical condition. He wants nothing but a quiet bed, some food and a little attention if someone has a spare moment. He's obviously been someone's friend, because he loves people. He's calm, quiet and very social - the ideal companion.

On September 1, 2012, Bridgeo was fortunate enough to return to his old stomping grounds when he was adopted by a couple from Plaster Rock who already has several ex-DunRoamin' strays. His friend Lois (see above) was also adopted. Thanks again to Mike, Lucy and the rest of the clan for accepting two more into the fold!

"Jonah" came to us on February 21, 2012 from a shelter where he had been left in a carrier on the doorstep. He was approximately eight years old, although it was hard to tell because of his condition. He is declawed and neutered but must have been on his own for quite some time, because he was very skinny and starving. He had trauma to his back which could be months old. It had caused his spinal column to shift, resulting in poor muscle mass in his thighs which did not allow him to walk well at all. He had a poor and awkward gate and fell over easily. This must have been very painful for him.

It is not known how long Jonah was in the carrier, but both he and the carrier were saturated with urine, so he required a bath as well as medical care. He received intensive medical assistance for his injury, and quickly became much more mobile and happy. On March 6, he went to live as a foster kitty with a wonderful couple who couldn't resist him.

On September 1, 2012, Jonah was welcomed into his foster home in Woodstock as a permanent family member. His family loves him, and he gladly returned the favour. Thanks to his medical team as well as Angela and Paul for changing his entire world.

"Sharon" came to DunRoamin' on August 10, 2012 from Centreville where she had been found on the side of the road. She was all alone and no mother or siblings could be located. Sharon was hungry and was not peeing on her own, both of which are not good for a tiny baby. She was brought to DunRoamin' where she was stimulated to begin peeing and was given lots of food.

Since Sharon was so small, she was introduced to Paula, a recently pregnant cat who, when she heard her crying, meowed and reached through the kennel doors for her. When presented with the kitten, Paula immediately started grooming and nursing her. She sleeps with her paw across her. What a wonderful mother!

On August 30, 2012, Sharon was officially adopted by a nice couple from Woodstock. She'll also have the company of her adopted sister, Tex (see below).

"Tex" came to DunRoamin' on August 11, 2012 when she was found by Canadian Customs officials in a transport that had travelled from Texas to New Brunswick. Tex was hungry, shaking, scared and cold. She was picked up by a DunRoamin' volunteer and delivered to Woof-Stock where she was examined by a vet and determined to be relatively healthy, despite her circumstances. She was transported to DunRoamin' and introduced to Paula, a recently-pregnant cat who immediately began grooming her.

Tex is a little feisty and immediately started hissing at her adoptive mom. Paula simply put her paw on her head, pushed her into the nursing position and Tex quickly changed her tune. Both Tex and Sharon (see above) are fortunate to have Paula as their adoptive mom to feed them and teach them the ways of the cat.

On August 30, 2012, Tex was officially adopted by the customs official who found her. What a wonderful ending to this part of your story, and a great start to your new life. Congratulations, Tex.

"Jacques" came from the Debec area on July 7, 2012 where he was discovered to be all on his own. Worse than that, he had sustained trauma in that his left eye was perforated and infected. He's only about six weeks old - just a baby! This must be very painful and scary for him, but he trusts his vet and is anxious for her help.

Jacques will undergo surgery to remove his eye and receive appropriate medical care to ensure he has the very best outcome possible. He's a cute little guy who appears to be otherwise healthy, but this injury would result in great damage should it not be treated. He's very fortunate to have been rescued, and we hope he finds a loving home in which to grow up. He hasn't had a very good start in life, but we're certain there's someone out there somewhere who will make it their mission to make sure the rest of it is wonderful!

On August 29, 2012, Jacques was adopted into his new home at Yoho Lake near Fredericton where he'll have the best life ever. Congratulations to all.

"Bridgette" came to DunRoamin' from the Centreville area on June 11, 2012 where she was found running back and forth across a road near a bridge the night before. She was all alone and in danger of being struck by passing vehicles. Fortunately, a very nice young lady came upon her and helped her.

Bridgette was very sick with an upper respiratory infection, was very skinny, pale and had bad diarrhea, as well as earmites. Not a good way to start off a young life! Her rescuer offered to care for and foster her until she could find a home.

Bridgette weighed only a little more than a pound. She appeared to be familiar with people and was not at all afraid. She loves to be held and cuddled, and thanks her new friend for a chance at a life, a home and a family.

On August 29, 2012, Bridgette was welcomed into her new permanent home. We'd all like to thank everyone who had a hand in making this dream a reality.

"Fanny" came to us on August 16, 2012. She was born about May 1, 2012, and had been living in a mill near Woodstock where workers kept an eye on her and made sure she had food. This day they noticed she did not come for food when called, and became worried. They later noticed her limping and knew things were not good.

Fanny had been caught in the fanbelt of a vehicle. Her injuries included a dislocated and broken left elbow, lacerations to her anus and elbow and her pelvis was broken in two places. She also was covered in fleas. She's just a baby.

Fanny's left front leg required amputation, her wounds were stitched up, and her fleas were treated. She was given pain medication and the best of care. She has a great outlook, and is feisty and noisy as all get out! Thanks to the care she received, she's gonna be fine. We're so glad.

On August 24, 2012, Fanny was adopted by her rescuers. Congratulations, little one. We're very happy you've got a safe and loving home now.

"Gator" is a stray who had been seen in the Plaster Rock area for a couple of weeks. He appeared to have had a chunk taken out of the side of his face and needed medical attention. He finally allowed himself to be caught and was brought for help on July 30, 2012.

Gator is about three-and-a-half years old and has an open wound on his left cheek which has been treated. He is not neutered. He is a big ol' tom cat who, now that he knows he'll be treated well, is turning into a boy who is happy to accept affection and attention. His surgery to clean and close the wound on his cheek went well, and he recovered nicely.

On August 17, 2012, it was learned that Gator, who had originally been named "Cookie," had gotten out of the house by accident. The gentleman who owned him had been looking for him ever since and had just seen his photo on this website. He came down the very next morning to get him, and Cookie was very happy to see him. He's back home now, and what could possibly be a better ending? Please keep in touch, Cookie. We're very happy that you're back with your family!

"Lint" came to DunRoamin' on June 25, 2012 from the Hartland area where she was found all alone. She was only about six weeks old and would not be capable of surviving by herself. She was hungry but was a healthy, happy and sociable little girl.

Lint was fostered with Rumour and her two babies Rhyme and Reason (see below) where they all got along just fine. She got her name from riding around in Dr Monteith's pocket while she worked (hence: pocket Lint).

On July 30, 2012, a lady and her two young boys came to meet Lint and her friend Reason (see below). She now lives with them in Lansdowne, and she gets to keep her best friend, Reason, with her, too! Thanks to her new family for keeping them together. Her family is now complete.

"Reason" and his sister Rhyme came to DunRoamin' from Juniper on the morning of May 27, 2012. Their mother had been struck by a car and killed the previous evening, and they had no one to care for them. Born on May 22, they were only five days old, and stood absolutely no chance of surviving on their own.

Reason was basically healthy, but was hungry as he had not eaten since the night before. He had to be fed by syringe every hour by his new DunRoamin' foster mother. He was grateful that he and his sister got a chance to survive and a chance to have a loving family.

Thanks to the two FVC vet techs who immediately responded to a request for help early on their sunny Sunday morning off, and to the vet who did the same. Thanks to their new foster mother for all the hard work and sleepness nights. It was worth it, because . . .

. . . on July 30, 2012, Reason was chosen to be part of a family in Lansdowne along with his friend Lint (see above). Now they'll be contributing members of a loving family and will be best friends of two little boys. They're grateful. We all are.

On May 25, 2012, "Cheshire" came to DunRoamin' when Vet Clinic staff exited the building to find a box of four baby kittens on the steps where they had been abandoned during the day. Cheshire, his brother Harvard and sisters Berkley and 'Puter were only about five-and-a-half weeks old. They had fleas, worms and were very small. Sadly, Berkley was unable to survive, despite all medical efforts.

All were small and required medical care. We had no idea where their mother was, so tehy had to be syringe-fed every few hours. They were fostered by a very generous Vet Tech to ensure they got the medical care and attention they required at all times.

On July 27, 2012, a family from Woodstock met Cheshire and fell in love. Cheshire will be a friend for Hermione, another ex-DunRoamin' cat, as well a a new friend for the three young children who already adore her. Please send us a new photo, and don't forget to write!

"Rhyme" and her brother Reason came to DunRoamin' from Juniper on the morning of May 27, 2012. Their mother had been struck by a car and thought to have been killed the previous evening, and they had no one to care for them. Born on May 22, they were only five days old.

Rhyme is basically healthy, but was hungry as she had not eaten since the night before. She had to be fed by syringe every hour by her new DunRoamin' foster mother. She and her brother were very grateful that they had a chance to survive and a chance to have a loving family.

Thanks to the two FVC vet techs who immediately responded to a request for help early on their sunny Sunday morning off, and to the vet who did the same. Thanks to their new foster mother for all the hard work to ensure these two little ones survive.

On July 26, 2012, Rhyme met a lady and her 3- and 5-year old daughters who immediately fell in love. She now lives in Florenceville where she'll grow up with her two young friends.

"Encore" originally came to us on November 24, 2010 from Stickney where he was dropped off with numerous other cats at the home of a couple known for their love of cats. Unfortunately, they were already overwhelmed with strays they were caring for and were unable to help him. Encore was born about September 1, 2010.

On January 5, 2011, Encore was adopted, but on October 29, 2011 while an adoption fair was taking place, he was returned as his adopter stated he had been peeing and pooping outside the litter box since he was adopted 10 months earlier. Encore was assessed and treated, and he has used the litter box 100% of the time. He's a beautiful little tabby boy who loved to be held in someone's arms while he watches out the window or tries to figure out what this new temporary home is all about. He was scared and confused at first, has learned that he can trust people, and he's now one of the first to greet you when you come in the door. He's an absolute sweetheart.

On July 26, 2012, Encore was chosen by a family in Florenceville to be their new family member, along with his friend Rant (see below). He immediately endeared himself to their family which includes two teenaged boys. We're so very happy for you, Encore, and hope you'll send pictures and stories very often. We'll miss you.

"Rant" and his friend Rave came from Houlton, ME on March 11, 2010. He had never been outdoors, and had lived in kennels in a shelter most of his life.  They were happy to become Canadian citizens in 2010, 'cause they're both hockey fans and are very proud of the Canadian Olympic Gold!

Rant is a handsome black kitty who enjoys all the attention he can glean. He was born about September, 2009. He loves to jump from the floor to your shoulder, but will never use his claws to land!

On July 30, 2011, Rant and Rave both went to a foster home in Brighton where he was fostered with several of his friends. Thanks, Chris and Terri-Lynn! We know you'll be very happy (and sad at the same time!) to learn that . . .

. . . on July 26, 2012, Rant went to his permanent new home in Florenceville where he'll live with his friend Encore (see above) and his new family which includes two teenaged boys who are head over heels in love with both of them! Please send lots up photos and updates to your old friends at DunRoamin', Rant. It won't be the same here without you. Congratulations! It was a long wait, but it's worth it!

On May 25, 2012, "'Puter"came to DunRoamin' when Vet Clinic staff exited the building to find a box of four baby kittens on the steps where they had been left during the day with no notice. 'Puter, her sister Berkley and brothers Cheshire and Harvard were only about five-and-a-half weeks old. They had fleas, worms and were very small. Sadly, Berkley did not survive, despite all medical efforts.

All were small and require medical care. We had no idea where their mother was, so they had to be syringe-fed every few hours. They were fostered by a Vet Tech to ensure they got the medical care and attention they required, then came back to us when they were well enough where they lived in the Cat-Quariums.

On July 18, 2012, 'Puter met a very nice young lady from Plaster Rock who fell in love with her. Puter will now live with her family which currently includes two dogs, a cat and a 12-year-old daughter. Please send lots of photos, 'Puter.

"Spatula" was about a year old.  She had been trying to survive outdoors in the cold winter months since October, 2010 and was being fed by a compassionate couple.  She was caught on May 9, 2011 and given safe refuge, but the wife was pregnant and the husband was extremely allergic, so they could not keep her.

On May 16, 2010 this couple learned that their neighbour found three tiny baby kittens under his house.  One was already dead, and one of the others was screaming her head off.  It took more than a half hour to get them out from under the house, and they were very cold, hungry and distressed.  The local SPCA informed them that they would be euthanized if they were brought in, as they had no room.  This kind couple took in the two kittens also, and even though they weren't her kittens, Spatula happily mothered them, although she had no milk.  They were fed by syringe until they were old enough to eat on their own. Both kittens were adopted, and Spatula was fostered by a generous couple in Fredericton. She's anxious to meet her new family.

On July 14, 2012, we learned that Spatula was adopted by her foster family in Fredericton, NB, along with her friend Ebby (see below), Congratulations, Spatula! Please send us a new family photo.

"Ebby Neezer" came to us on December 9, 2010 from the Good's Corner area where she was part of a group of cats who occasionally wandered next door for food.  A gentleman was feeding her and her friends, but had never been able to get close to her or pick her up.  On December 8th, though, she sat on his deck and meowed at him.  She didn't budge when he walked up to her and picked her up.  That's when he realized something was definitely wrong.

Ebby was less than a year old.  Both the tibia and fibula were broken in her left hind leg.  She had ear mites, but had a good physical body condition thanks to the nutrition she's been receiving.  Ebby's leg was splinted and she received all necessary medical care.  She's a beautiful pewter gray with white.

On April 3, 2011, Ebby went to live with Gillian and Derek in Fredericton as a foster kitty where she learned trust, love and how to be a member of a real family which included two dogs and two other cats. Gillian reports that Ebby loves Derek more than anything else in the world.  And she also loves all other cats and dogs immediately upon meeting them!

On July 14, 2012, we learned that both Ebby and her friend Spatula (see above) will be adopted by her foster family in Fredericton, NB. We're grateful they can stay together! Congratulations, Ebby!

"Rue" and her sister "Gale" came to us from the Industrial Park in Hartland on May 11, 2012 when she, her mother and siblings Katniss and Haymitch were found under a building. One employee was concerned about their safety so she rescued them and brought them to us for help.

All kittens were covered with fleas but were otherwise healthy. Their mom has done an excellent job looking after them, and they were healthy, clean, fat, active and were already purring at the ripe old age of only about two and a half weeks. They lived at the Florenceville Vet Clinic where they enjoyed the cat-quariums until . . .

. . . Friday, July 13, 2012, when they met a very nice lady from Elmdale, NB. We thank her so much for all her love and ongoing support for these beautiful little animals. Write soon and send lots of photos!

"Fritz" and his siblings Larri, Moe and Curly were found on August 22, 2011 in Woodstock by the Town Police who were patrolling near JR's on Lower Main Street. They were full of fleas, ear mites and worms - obviously very uncomfortable. They had no shelter nor mother to care for them, and it's been very damp and cold lately.

Fritz and his family were fostered by a nice lady from Woodstock, where they learned to be social and showed their gratitude daily. They were born about June 1, 2011.

On July 6, 2012, we were happy to learn that Fritz and his sister Larri (see below) will be permanent members of their foster family. Congratulations!!

"Larri" and her siblings Moe, Curly and Fritz were found on August 22, 2011 in Woodstock by the Town Police who were patrolling near JR's on Lower Main Street. Larry and her family were fostered by a nice lady from Woodstock, where they learned to be social and showed their gratitude daily. They were born about June 1, 2011.

On July 6, 2012, we were pleased to learn that Larri and her brother Fritz (see above) will be permanent family members of their foster family. Congratulations!

"Hallow" was found at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Newburg about October 24, 2011. He had been taken in by some people who tried to find a home for him but were unsuccessful. He was living in their barn, but found it too cold there and was even shivering in their basement. He came to us on October 31. He was only about eight weeks old.

Hallow, of course, was not yet neutered since he was so young. He got lots of decent food, warmth and care. He's a quiet and loving little boy who is deserving of nothing but the very best.

On July 6, 2012, he received just that! He was introduced to a couple from Newburg and won their hearts. He'll live with them and his friend Tuukka (see below) who was also adopted by this wonderful couple. Congratulations, Hallow! We look forward to hearing from you very soon. Have a great life!

"Tuukka" was returned to DunRoamin' on April 5, 2012 from Holmesville where he had been adopted in August, 2011. He was born about the middle of April, 2011, so he's just about a year old. Tuukka had been rescued in Woodstock in the middle of June, 2011, when he was really sick with an upper respiratory infection. He had lost his eye as a result, but suffered no other bad effects.

Tuukka is a very gentle, cuddly, affectionate and playful cat who loves other cats and all people. He settled in very well with the dozen cats with whom he lived at DunRoamin', and he's quite happy to have lots of love and attention from all the volunteers who care for him. He was named after the back-up goalie of Boston's winning Stanley Cup team of 2011.

On July 6, 2012, Tuukka met a very nice couple from Newburg, and that was all it took! He's now a permanent member of their family along with his friend Hallow (see above) whom they also adopted. We're very grateful that they got to go to a loving home together, and we are very confident that they will live the life they deserve! Congratulations, Tuukka! Please send photos and updates often!

"Clove" came to DunRoamin' on May 15, 2012 from the Arthurette area where she and her five siblings had been abandoned. They were only about four weeks old and were all by themselves. Their rescuers had several strays they were trying to care for already, and these little ones became DunRoamin' wards.

Clove and her siblings were fostered by a kind university student, where they quickly learned to be happy, healthy, playful, loving little kittens.

On June 20, 2012, Clove was adopted by a family in Plaster Rock. Now renamed "Ringo," she'll live happily ever after. Congratulations, Ringo!

"Katniss" came to us from the Industrial Park in Hartland on May 11, 2012 when she, her mother and siblings were found under a building. One employee was concerned about their safety, so she rescued them and brought them to us for help. Then she went back to try to catch their mother before any harm came to her.

Katniss, her two brothers and sister were covered with fleas but were otherwise healthy. Their mom has done an excellent job looking after them, and they're, clean, fat, active and are already purring at the ripe old age of only about two and a half weeks. She and her siblings were fostered by a young vet student in Florenceville . . .

. . . and on June 18, 2012, we learned that her sister had fallen in love with little Katniss who will live permanently with her in Florenceville. Congratulations, Lesley and Katniss!

"Elroy" was found by a very kind gentleman at the Burns Hall in Kincardine on the afternoon of June 7, 2012. He was first seen the day before laying in the grass cuddling with a dead sibling, but ran when approached. This gentleman went down as soon as possible, caught him easily as he was much weaker and took him immediately for vet care. Elroy was very dehydrated, hungry and weak. He would most probably not have lived much longer had he not been rescued.

Elroy was syringe fed by his saviour, and he slept beside his pillow each night, perhaps from lack of energy, but more probably for love and support. He weighed a whopping 9/10 of a pound on June 7, and used the litter box on his own for the first time on June 10.

On June 18, 2012, he was healthy enough to go to a new home in Maplehurst where he'll have the life he deserves. He'd like to thank the young lady who made his new life possible. We all wish you the best, little guy!

"Haymitch" came to us from the Industrial Park in Hartland on May 11, 2012 when he, his mother and siblings were found under a building. One employee was concerned about their safety so she rescued them and brought them to us for help. Then she went back to try to catch their mother before any harm came to her.

Haymitch, his brother and two sisters were covered with fleas, but were otherwise healthy. Their mom has done an excellent job looking after them, and they were, clean, fat, active and already purring at the ripe old age of about two and a half weeks.

On June 15, 2012, Haymitch met a young DunRoamin' student volunteer and her mom and decided he'd like to go live with her in Florenceville. He'll be the newest member of their family. Please send lots of photos, Haymitch!

"Peeta" came to DunRoamin' on May 15, 2012 from the Arthurette area where he and his five siblings had been abandoned. They were only about four weeks old and were all by themselves. Their rescuer already had several strays they were trying to care for and needed help, so these little ones became DunRoamin' wards.

Peeta and his siblings were fostered by a kind university student, where they quickly learned to be happy, healthy, playful, loving little kittens. Peeta is especially cute and playful, and everyone he has met has fallen in love with him.

On June 14, 2012, Peeta was adopted by a lady in Grafton. He'll be a new friend for Pugsley, another ex-DunRoamin' stray. Congratulations on your new family, Peeta. Please ask your mom to send lots of photos of your and Pugs!

"Van Gogh" came to us on May 29, 2012 from Wicklow where she had been found on the highway after having been struck by a car. Another car actually straddled her as she lay on the pavement, and a tractor trailer had to swerve into another lane to avoid striking her. She was only about nine or ten weeks old, and her back was fractured. She was also very hungry and ate like she'd never had food before.

Van Gogh couldn't walk, but had some sensation in her hind end. She's very loving and affectionate, with beautiful eyes. She purrs and kneads happily when spoken to or patted. She's a beautiful little girl who has shown great stamina and determination to the point that by June 2nd she could stand a little on her own. She's amazing! Thanks to lots of vet skill and attention, she recuperated extremely well!

On June 4, 2012, Van Gogh (renamed Maggie May) was adopted by a couple in Jacksonville where she'll live with them and their cats Lilly, Oscar (the new guy) and Emma and Chance, both ex-DunRoamin' strays. We're looking forward to lots of photos and updates, Maggie May!

"Codger" came to DunRoamin' on February 13, 2012 from Bath. He had been found on a doorstep freezing and covered with frost. Temperatures have been around -30*C. He was unneutered, had a huge abscess on his face, ear mites, tapeworms and fleas. He was lucky to have found the home of people who care. He was born about July 2009.

Codger is a real sweetheart. At first he was scared and unsure of what was happening, but once he realized he was being treated by gentle and caring people, he let his true colours be known. He's loving, affectionate, loves to purr, and he loves his friend Cranky (see below). We've made him two promises: he'll never be cold again and one day he'll have the best home EVER!!

On June 4, 2012, we were able to make good on our promises. He and his best friend Cranky now live with a wonderful lady in Fredericton where they'll continue to be the best of friends and enjoy life to the fullest. Here's a photo of Codger in one of his new favourite places in the house!

"Crankshaft" came to DunRoamin' on March 1, 2012. A gentleman from Bath, NB got in his car and drove directly to a garage in Houlton, ME. When a mechanic opened the hood of the car, he saw Cranky, who immediately hid back inside the motor. It took some time to get her out. This gentleman could not just leave her there, but he is extremely allergic, and besides, she's Canadian!

Cranky came to DunRoamin' where she was examined. She's about one year old, has a tail injury which required surgery, was cold, scared, emaciated, had fleas and worms and was very, very dirty, so a nice warm bath was drawn for her by her new servants. She was very scared, but has the potential to be a loving little girl. She's feeling much more comfortable with us, and especially with her friend Codger whom she loves (see above) and who takes very good care of her.

On June 4, 2011, Cranky was adopted along with her friend Codger. They'll both live in Fredericton with their new family. We're so grateful that they'll have such a great home, and that they get to stay together. Thanks to their new mother!

"Joan" came to us from The Ark in Florenceville on the evening of November 15, 2011. A vehicle had driven in, dropped off a box of kittens and driven away. They were terrified and jumped out of the box. Their rescuer believed there were about three others, and he tried to catch them. Joan and her sisters Angel and Alexandria were already socialized, because once they were safe, they were very loving and affectionate - not scared at all. They love to be held.

Joan of Ark was about seven weeks old, and weighed only 1.1 pounds. She had fleas and worms, both of which were treated. She got lots of nutritious food, so she put on weight really well. Joan's foster mom reports that Joan is the sweetest of the bunch. She loves attention and to be held, and is very playful. She loves dogs, other cats and kids, and is not shy to meet new people at all! She has a funny little growl, and loves to be nosey!

On June 2, 2012, Joan was adopted by one of DunRoamin's student volunteers who lives in Lakeville. She's going to have a great life, a great family and a great home! Please stay in touch, Joan! We'll look forward to hearing about you every Saturday morning!! Congratulations!

"Helen" came to DunRoamin' on June 26, 2010 from Plymouth Road in Woodstock - a dead-end road where she and a dozen other cats were unceremoniously abandoned by people in a half-ton truck late in the evening on that day. All cats were very sick with untreated upper respiratory illness. They were rescued by caring volunteers and their friends, and all subsequently recovered thanks to their efforts and those of vet professionals, although several lost an eye as a result of damage that could not be reversed. Helen lost both of her eyes. She was fortunate to go to a foster home at Christmas, 2010, where she's experienced the blessings of a family like no other. She's a unique cat who finds her way not by sight, but by the sound of love emanating from the voices of her adoring family. She can make a bee-line to that sound, regardless of any physical obstacle that might be in her way. She knows nothing now but joy, love, and the warmth and security of a caring family.

On June 1, 2012, Helen was adopted by her family in Bath. She's always been a permanent fixture anyway, so now it's official! Helen would like to express her appreciation to the rescuers of her and her friends, the vet staff who has cared for her, her friends in the community and especially her family, to whom she has sworn her love and loyalty for life. She has experienced the worst of life, and now she's fortunate to be the recipient of the best life can offer. She thanks all who have given her so much, and wants them to know that she will never forget their compassion. She will always be grateful.

"Petro" was found first thing in the morning on May 31, 2012, at the Carleton Co-Op in Florenceville, a common drop-off place for cats. She was only about 10 weeks old, and was running around the gas pumps where there was a great deal of traffic. Not knowing what to do or where to go, she was in grave danger of being struck by a vehicle. She was very hungry and had a runny eye and earmites, all of which were treated.

On May 31, 2012, Petro was adopted by a cat-loving DunRoamin' supporter who lives in Jacksonville with her dog and several cats, all of whom are ex-DunRoamin' strays. Petro is happy to have a new family where she'll live safely and happily. Congratulations, Petro and Janet!

"Finnick" came to DunRoamin' on May 15, 2012, from the Arthurette area where he and his five siblings had been abandoned. They were only about four weeks old and were all by themselves. Their rescuers had several strays they were trying to care for already, so these little ones became DunRoamin' wards.

Finnick and his siblings were fostered by a kind university student, where they quickly learned to be happy, healthy, playful, loving little kittens.

On May 29, 2012 we learned that Finnick had endeared himself so much to his foster mother that he would remain as a permanent family member. He now lives in Fielding. Congratulations, Finnick! Way to go, little guy!

"Semi" came to us on May 29, 2012 after being found on the highway. He's about ten weeks old, and had fleas. That's really about all we know about him, other than . . .

. . . he met a lady on May 29th, (shortly after he arrived) who fell immediately in love with him. So he's now a permanent member of her multi-pet household, including our Tim (see below). Semi is happy to be a Jacksonville resident, and very happy to have a loving family.

"Angel" came to us from The Ark in Florenceville on the evening of November 15, 2011. A vehicle drove in, dropped off a box of kittens and drove away. A man had seen them in the box and had tried to help them, but they were very scared. Only Joan and her sister Alexandria were caught at first and the man believed there were about five of them, so they kept looking, luckily for Angel, who was found a couple of hours later.

Ark Angel was about seven weeks old, and weighed only 1.1 pounds. She had infected eyes, fleas and worms, all of which were treated. She was happy to be reunited with her sisters whom she recognized immediately. She and her sisters were fostered in Woodstock by a very caring student volunteer and her family. Angel's foster mom reports that Angel especially loves dogs, as well as other cats and kids. Her best friend is her older foster sister cat. She loves to sleep with someone close to her, and is happy to just be in the room with people. She loves to climb on your lap when you're playing on the XBox!

On May 27, 2012, we got the word that Angel would like to become a permanent member of her family in Woodstock. We're very happy to report that she will live the rest of her life with the people who love her the most. Congratulations, Angel, you're in heaven, right where you belong!

"Everdeen" became DunRoamin' on May 22, 2012 after being dropped off at a home in Lakeville. The homeowner is well known for being an animal lover, and she noticed quickly that little Everdeen had problems eating. She was about four or five years old, and she had lots of earmites, but the big problem was the fact that she had gum disease so badly that all her teeth except the ones in front had to be removed. She was treated for her fleas and underwent surgery to remove her teeth, and she's now feeling much better. She loves her canned food, and constantly purrs, kneads and cuddles, happy to be free from pain and able to consume nourishment easily.

On May 22, 2012, Everdeen met a lady who was looking for a cat to whom to give a loving home, and Everdeen certainly fit the bill! Everdeen will now live in Woodstock with her new family, where she'll enjoy her evenings watching TV with her new mother while relaxing on the bed. Congratulations, Everdeen! "Today is the first day of the rest of your life!!"

"Tim" was found at Tim Horton's in Florenceville on December 6, 2011. He was starving and trying to get into the drive-through window for food. He was very cold, very thin and covered with fleas. He was wearing a light blue collar, so he must have belonged to someone, but he also must have been lost for quite a while to be so thin. Tim was about one year old, and was very friendly and loving. He purrs easily and is happy to be warm and have enough to eat. When picked up, Tim places both front paws around your neck and exerts pressure - yes, he hugs you!! What a nice boy! He likes to be challenged, and loves to play with catnip toys which he'll throw in the air and chase. He's very curious and energetic and he loves attention. On May 9, 2012, Tim was fostered in Woodstock with a great cat lover and super DunRoamin' supporter.

On May 22, 2012, the word came down: Tim's staying in Woodstock! His new mother reports he's quite the cuddler and loves his new cat friends Whitie, Hal and Chloe, and he's working on loving the dogs, too! We're very happy for you, Tim. Thanks, Lisa, you gave him a whole new world!

On June 10, 2009, "Janice Lynn Rebecca" came to DunRoamin' from the Woodstock area where it appears she may have been struck by a car.  Two ladies tried for several days to catch her, as she appeared to be quite injured.  Janice was scared and initially resisted their attempts to catch her.

When she was finally caught, Janice Lynn Rebecca was brought to DunRoamin' where she was diagnosed as having three breaks in the femur of her left hind leg.  She was only about a year old.  This must have been especially painful for her.

She was treated for her injuries and rested comfortably at the Clinic until September 28th, when she was invited to be a foster kitty in Wakefield.  She'd like to thank Margo for giving her a foster home and all that cuddling!  Margo reports that Janice got along well with her own cats, and that she LOVES to play with catnip pillows.  She is very happy to have human company, especially at night!

On May 5, 2012, Janice was introduced to her new family. They live near Plaster Rock where she'll be the best friend of their young daughter and their cat, as well as Obi (see below) who also became part of their family today! Congratulations on your new permanent home, Janice. It's been a long wait, but it'll definitely be worth it! Please send lots of family photos!

"Obi" was brought for help on December 30, 2011 from the Perth-Andover area where he had come to a house and showed them his injuries, but he was not allowed to come inside for shelter. The nights were very cold, so two DunRoamin' volunteers picked him up and brought him for help.

Obi is about seven years old, and is a beautiful orange tabby. He had several infected wounds under his chin, his tail was dislocated or broken and his jaw had been broken. These injuries were addressed by vet staff, and in the meantime, he just spent his time sleeping and eating. He was thin and exhausted from working so hard to stay alive, and he's quite happy to have a soft, warm bed and to have his meals delivered to his suite. Obi is very quiet, laid back and gentle. If you sit down, he immediately gets up from where he's sitting and comes to jump up on your lap. He's definitely a lap cat, a gentleman and a sweetheart.

On May 5, 2012, he was invited to join a family near Plaster Rock where he'll be a new friend for their daughter, their cat and Janice (see above) whom they also adopted today. Congratulations, everyone!

"Linda" and her sister "Karen" came to DunRoamin' from Houlton, ME on April 7, 2011, when they traded themselves so that Ellie May, who had been diagnosed with Feline Leukemia (a potentially infectious disease), could have a safe and loving home with other Feline Leukemia-positive cats.

Karen and Linda had been rescued from a home that had approximately 30 cats.  They both had a terrible amount of fleas and bad upper respiratory infections.  Despite this, they're very active and full of life.  They're very cute and affectionate little girls who have been treated for all their medical needs.  They look very much alike, except Karen has white on her chest and paws.  They have the same "pick me up and love me!" personalities.  They're very entertaining little creatures who never fail to make you smile!
On October 25, 2011, they were invited to be fostered with five ex-DunRoamin' strays in Florenceville by two cat-loving DunRoamin' supporters. We're all very grateful to have them as part of our DunRoamin' family.

On April 29, 2012, we learned Linda and Karen had deemed themselves permanent family members, and they were officially adopted by their foster parents. We know they'll bring you hours of joy. Thanks so much for making their family a permanent experience. Best wishes to you all!

"Mario" and his brother Luigi (see below) were about two years old when they were dropped at a home in Upper Kent.  The homeowners are known as compassionate people, so therefore this is a common occurrence.  However, they were currently overwhelmed with strays they were caring for, so on May 13, 2011, Mario and Luigi came to DunRoamin'.

Mario is orange, and Luigi is a tabby.  They were both healthy, and appeared to have lived outdoors all their lives.
They were fostered by their rescuers who taught them love, trust and family. Thank you so very much, Tammy, Afrika and Madrid.

On April 14, 2012, Mario and Luigi met their new family when a lady from Woodstock decided she'd like to give them both a forever home. They'd both like to thank the family who rescued them and fostered them for so long. They will never ever forget them.

"Virgil" came to DunRoamin' on April 25, 2011 from the Carlow area where he had been drawn to a dumpster on the previous Saturday by the smell of food which had been disposed of there.  He was only about a year old and was emaciated and had ear mites and worms as well as fleas which were the cause of hair loss on his body.  He was in pretty rough shape.

People who found him called a DunRoamin' volunteer who ensured he got immediate medical care.  Virgil is a beautiful boy who blossomed with a little bit of medication, a lot of warmth and love and even more food.  He's now very healthy, and he loves kids, other cats and even dogs!  He's in a foster home in Fielding where they report that he greets guests at the door. He rarely ever meows (except for a tiny squeak while awaiting treats). His favourite toy is his laser light, and when he wants to cuddle, he'll burrow right into you!

On April 9, 2012, we learned that his foster family had decided they couldn't do without him. He'll live permanently in Fielding with his family which includes two kids, two cats and one dog. Congratulations, Virgil! You really are home!

"Fifi" came to us on October 28, 2011 from East Brighton where she and her four siblings were found all alone. They were very young, having been born around the middle of August. With the cold weather and snow recently, they would not survive on their own. They were covered in fleas and had ear mites, two very uncomfortable and debilitating parasites.

Fifi is orange and white and is a beautiful little girl. She loves to be held and will lay on her back in your arms and knead the air while you rub her belly. She's very laid back, affectionate and loving.

On April 6, 2012, she met a nice family from Florenceville, and she was very pleased to be invited to join them. She'll be the best friend for two young children, both of whom are very excited to have her join their family. Send lots of photos, Fifi!

"Landry" came to us on January 19, 2012 from the Debec area where he had been attacked and shaken by a dog. He was only about eight months old. He was in shock and in a lot of pain. He also had parasites.

Landry received immediate vet care which included intravenous fluids and pain medication, among other life-saving administrations, to which he responded well. It appears he will have no lasting effects. He loves to burrow under blankets and reach out with his paw to grab you as you walk by. He's the first one to meet you at the door, and he LOVES to snuggle! He also loves other cats, and is a real sweetheart.

On April 5, 2012, he met a young couple who will be married in June, and they'd like to have a friend for their older cat. Landry will now live in St Stephen where he'll be the life of the party, and very well loved. He says he's having a great time, and loves his new family dearly! Write often, Landry!!

"DC" came to us on August 31, 2011 from Woodstock where he and his mom and four siblings were covered with fleas so badly that they were anemic. They were also starving and cold. One of the kittens, Fila, was unable to survive and passed away shortly after coming through the door. The others, three boys (Nike, Reebok and DC) and one girl (Puma) required intensive vet care. Sadly, Puma did not survive either. The kittens were about four weeks old. DC lived in a foster home with his friend Hallow where he learned love, trust and how to be a well-loved family member, so much so that . . .

. . . on April 5, 2012, we learned that he was going to be a permanent family member. DC will live with a couple who will give him the best home ever, and he'll get the benefit of knowing all kinds of animal friends when they come as foster pets. Congratulations, DC!

"Declan" came to us on the late evening of December 20, 2011 from Muniac. His right hind leg was mostly missing, and a sharp triangular piece of bone approximately 3 - 4 inches in length was protruding from his hip. His tail was also injured to the point that it fell off shortly after his arrival.

Declan was about a year and a half old. He's one of the most affectionate cats we've ever met, and we've met a lot of affectionate cats!! Even though he must have been in extreme pain, while being examined by his vet he kneaded his paws, well aware that he was warm, safe and being cared for at last. He always wants to be held and cuddled, and loves people. He must have been in excruciating pain, but surgery has been performed to repair what's left of his leg and he's now perfectly fine.

On April 2, 2012, Declan began his new life with his permanent family in Keswick Ridge with two dogs. His new best 4-year old friend lives next door, and they'll spend much time together. Congratulations, Declan!

"Ali" was found in Williamstown on April 14, 2011.  She was full of burdocks, fleas, was cold, hungry, dehydrated and scared.  This wasn't the worst of it, though.  Ali was wearing a collar, but her front left leg had gotten caught in it, and she had sustained some serious damage.  A large area under her armpit where the collar had rubbed had removed the skin and underlying tissue.  This area had become badly infected, and the collar was embedded deeply in her body. She required anaesthetization in order to remove it.  Ali underwent a two-week regimen of antibiotics that helped her recover.

Ali was spayed as soon as she was strong enough and tested negative for both Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS.  She is a beautiful long-haired buff-coloured blue-eyed two-year old.  On April 19 she went to be fostered by the lady who rescued her. who reports that she is a very social cat who loves dogs and is extremely affectionate and gentle with her two-year old daughter.

On April 5, 2012, we learned that Ali will remain with this family as a permanent member. They are all in love with each other, so there she'll stay. Congratulations, Ali, and the same to your wonderful family!

"Alexandria" came to us from The Ark in Florenceville on the evening of November 15, 2011. A vehicle drove in, dropped off a box of kittens and drove away. A man had seen them in the box and had tried to help them, but they were very scared. Only Joan and her sister Alexandria were caught at first, and the man believed there were about five of them. They've both been socialized in their young lives, because now that they're safe, they are very loving and affectionate. They love to be held.

Alexandria was about seven weeks old, and weighed only 1.1 pounds. She had fleas and worms, both of which were treated. Alexandria loves dogs, other cats and kids. Her foster mom reports that she is a little fluff ball who loves to lay in the sun or next to something warm, and if you pick her up, she'll melt in your arms. She has very soft fur and her eyes glow against her beautiful black fur. Alex is very needy, and loves attention and to be held!

On March 25, 2012, Alex was adopted by a lady in Woodstock. Congratulations on getting your fondest wish, Alex! Take care, and don't forget to write!

"Figaro" came to us on October 28, 2011 from East Brighton where he and his four siblings were found all alone. They were very young, having been born around the middle of August. With this cold weather and snow, they would not survive on their own. They were covered in fleas and had ear mites, two very uncomfortable and debilitating parasites.

Figaro is a black and white little boy who is was also treated for upper respiratory infection as well as the fleas and ear mites. He's very loving and likes attention.

On March 27, 2012, Figaro met a gentleman from Bristol who invited him to become part of his family. That's exactly what Figaro's been waiting for! Congratulations, Big Guy! Please send some pictures of you and your new family!

"Flora" came to us on October 28, 2011 from East Brighton where she and her four siblings were found all alone. They were very young, having been born around the middle of August. With this cold weather and snow, they would not survive on their own. They were covered in fleas and had ear mites, two very uncomfortable and debilitating parasites.

Flora is a buff calico, and is a beautiful little girl. She was treated for the fleas and ear mites and went to stay in a foster home where she and her family learned what true family really was. She's very grateful, and so are we.

On March 19, 2012, Flora met a nice lady from Perth-Andover who decided that she'd like to have her as her new roommate. Congratulations, Flora! Send lots of photos!

This is "Dizzy." On June 28, 2011, three cats and 12 kittens were rescued from a barn near Hartland.  They were enclosed in a shed and were hungry and thirsty.  Most had ear mites, fleas and worms.  They appear  to be from three families. Dancer was the mother of four little girls - Dizzy, Dazzler, Domino and Dylan who were born about May 25, 2011. All were slightly timid, and appeared to not have had much human contact. The kittens rapidly became socialized, though, with the help of their foster family and feline foster brothers and sisters. We'd like to thank Kelly and Kevin, as well as their other foster families, for taking them in and giving them a chance at becoming members of a real family.

On March 10, 2012, Dizzy was adopted into a family in Greenfield which consists of a couple and their four-year old daughter, as well as a six-month old cat for Dizzy to play with. Dizzy is a birthday present for the daughter, and they'll be best friends. Congratulations to all.

"Stewart" came to us on January 20, 2012 from the Beechwood area where he was a stray who came to a lady who recognized the fact that he needed help. He's about eight years old, and he has an umbilical hernia, infected teeth and is in kidney failure. He is not yet neutered.

Stewart was fostered by a vet tech who ensured he got the hour-to-hour care he required. Once he was healthy enough, he had his infected teeth removed and was neutered, and is on a special diet and care for his kidneys. While staying with his Vet Tech, they fell in love, and . . .

. . . on March 9, 2012, it was decided that he would spend the rest of his life with her. And why not? She's his family! Congratulations to both, and best wishes, Stewart!

"Catalina," her brother "Chaplin" and mom Carrie (see below) came to DunRoamin' on November 23, 2011. They had come to a home in Woodstock asking for help, and the lady could not refuse them, but she had five cats of her own and could not add three more. Despite the fact that they were covered with fleas and had diarrhea, she fed them and kept them warm and safe while she attempted to get them assistance by every means available, but was unsuccessful. They were all starving and very thin. The kittens were only about three months old. All three would like to thank their rescuer for helping them, and driving them more than a half hour during the first snowtorm of the year to make sure they'd be safe and cared for. She also delivered two bags of cat food, and they're all very grateful, as are we. It would have been a very long and cold night without her help.

All three lived at DunRoamin', and Carrie was the first to be adopted. Her kittens enjoyed running and playing with Charisma, Boom, Tim and Cersei until . . .

. . . March 6, 2012, when they met a family from Florenceville. They'll be the new family of a young seven-year old, and they'll grow up together. Congratulations, you two! Send us lots of family photos!!

"Chicory" originally came to us on June 24, 2010 and was adopted out in August 2010 to a home in Ashland.   However, on  July 7, 2011, he was brought back because he was peeing outside the litter box.  This is usually a sign of an infection which is easily treated, but Chicory remained with us.

Chicory did very well, never failing to use the box.  He is a beautiful, quiet and well-mannered boy who got along well with all his friends with whom he lived.  He was born about June 1, 2010.

On February 27, 2012, he was adopted into a home in Plaster Rock where he'll live with his friend Chiffon. Congratulations to both of you!! Have a great life, Chic!!

"Chiffon" and her sister Cameo were two of four grey tabby kittens dropped off at a home in Glassville where this occurs quite frequently. They were overrun with cats and kittens, some of whom were feral.  Since they were already socialized, they deserved a chance at a home with people.  They love to be picked up and cuddled.  They came to DunRoamin' on September 4, 2010 and were born about July 25, 2010.  Cameo was adopted in August, 2011. Chiffon is a quiet and loving cat who enjoys attention and would like to have her own family too. She's been waiting a while, and was hoping for a home soon, when . . .

. . . on February 24, 2012, she was introduced to a gentleman from Plaster Rock who was interested in giving two cats a loving home. He chose Chiffon and her friend Chicory (see above), and they're both grateful to have the home of their dreams with the man who will give them the best life possible. Congratulations, Chiffon!!

"Relic" came to DunRoamin' on February 8, 2012 from the Woodstock area. He's about 14 years old, and was to be put down because he was reportedly vocalizing and vicious. He is visually impaired, has hyperthyroidism and is very lean. He also has a heart murmur, but is still active and happy. He's a beautiful boy who still has time to enjoy his life and to share that life with a family.

Relic is happy to have a foster home in Jacksonville where he'll show his foster parents what a wonderful cat he is. He's not sick, he's not in pain, he's just looking for lots of cuddling, snuggling and attention in his autumn years. He'll get exactly that in his foster home. Thanks, Margo and Shawn.

On February 24, 2012, we learned that Relic is never going to leave his foster family. He's loved so much that he's now a permanent member. You're a very lucky boy, Relic. Congratulations!

"Columbo" came from Upper Kent on February 16, 2012. He was a stray who had been noticed in the area for about three days. When it was realized that he had an injury, he was brought for help.

Columbo was unneutered, had ear mites, fleas and a chronic eye injury which was so severe that his eye was damaged to the degree that it had to be removed. He is on antibiotics and is receiving the best of care. He's happy to be pain-free and warm at long last. He seems to love people, so has been around them before. How he became a stray or sustained his injury is not known. What we do know is that he'll be okay now.

On February 22, 2012, Columbo's family came to collect him. They had been looking for him for several weeks and a friend had noticed him on this website. He was happy to be reunited with his family, and is looking forward to being safe and sound in his home again. Congratulations, Columbo. Stay warm and safe inside!!

"Riggs" came to DunRoamin' from the Hartland area on February 6, 2012. He had had several problems with crystals in his urine which caused him to become blocked. He was having very bad problems and the cost was becoming prohibitive for his family who had gone well above and beyond for his care. He was about six years old.

Riggs is a beautiful boy. He loves attention and will stand on his hind legs like a groundhog to get you to scratch his head. He's extremely affectionate and is trying very hard to overcome his affliction. Surgery has been performed on him to help ensure that he does not block again, and his diet has been altered to ensure that nothing he ingests will contribute to getting blocked again. He is anxious to not have to wear his e-collar, as he doesn't like it, and is an expert at removing it when no one's looking. He can't wait to go back to a loving home environment!!

On February 20, 2012, Riggs went to a home in Hartland where he'll be spoiled in the custom with which he is familiar. He's happy to be home! Congratulations!!

"Hermione" and her babies Draco, Weasley, Hagrid (all boys), Bellatrix and Luna (girls) came to DunRoamin' on October 7, 2011 from Gordonsville. They had been born on a deck on October 6th during the first snowfall of the year. The owner wanted them gone. One had already died because of the conditions in which they were born. The others were sure to follow.

All six cats were fostered by a strong DunRoamin' supporter in Bristol. She reported that Hermione is very kind and gentle, is a great mom and loves to be patted. She has a wonderful personality and is very quiet and well mannered, just like a little queen. She loves to be scratched behind her ears and loves the two young children with whom she is fostered.

On February 4, 2012, Hermione was introduced to a family from Woodstock, and they chose her to be their only pet. She will spend the rest of her life with this family which includes a three- and five-year old boy who will be her new best friends. Congratulations to everyone. Don't forget to write, Hermione!

Blue & Fiji

"Fiji" came to us on October 28, 2011 from East Brighton where she and her four siblings were found all alone. They were very young, having been born around the middle of August. With this cold weather and snow, they would not survive on their own. They were covered in fleas and had ear mites, two very uncomfortable and debilitating parasites.

Fiji is a calico, and is a beautiful little girl. She was treated for upper respiratory as well as the fleas and ear mites. All lived in a foster home where they became loving, playful, confident, trusting and beautiful little kittens.

On January 28, 2012, Fiji's foster parents informed us that they would like to make her a permanent member of their family along with her two friends Blue and Ramano (see below). She will now live in Pembroke where she'll share a home with humans, dogs and other cats. She walked in and immediately made herself at home with absolutely no reservations! Congratulations, Fiji, and to your family as well. We know you'll have a great life!

"Blue" came to us on July 5, 2011, and her brother "Ramano" came a few days later on July 9th.  They were about 10 weeks old, and were living under a porch in Riverbank where they had been carried by their feral mother who had not returned for them.  Blue and her brother were live-trapped as they were both very cold, scared and hungry, although otherwise healthy. They were timid, so were lucky to go to a foster home in Pembroke where they became very well socialized thanks to the love they received. Blue fell in love with Monkey, another ex-DunRoamin' stray who was her foster sister. It seems the switch on Blue's purrer is broken, because it won't turn off! She purrs constantly! Ramano is a little more standoffish than Blue at first, but he quickly warms up. They're best friends who have never been separated.

On January 28, 2012, their foster family informed us that they just couldn't live without them! They will be the newest permanent members of this family in Pembroke, along with their friend Fiji (see above) and their new canine and feline family. Thanks to Kevin and Kelly, the best family they could ever have!

"Thelma" originally came to DunRoamin' on October 11, 2006, when she was rescued from a kitty mill where she did not at all have an ideal life.  She was adopted out in May, 2009 to a lady in Lansdowne, but was returned on August 3, 2011 when the lady moved away and did not take her along.  She also lived with another lady who eventually had to move into a place that would not allow cats. Thelma is a little timid when she's in a brand new place.  She loves other cats and is fine with dogs also. She will purr easily if you'll give her a head rub or a brush. She's a beautifully-coloured cat who sometimes has an almost-lilac-coloured glow to her fur, and she has a great personality. She'll take a bit of time to get to know you, but she'll be your best friend in no time. On December 28, 2011, she went to be fostered in Fredericton with a great guy and his four ex-DunRoamin' strays, and . . .

. . . on January 28, 2012 he gave both himself and Thelma a birthday present. She's now a permanent family member, and she'll sleep curled up beside him each night. It's been a long wait, but this time it's forever, Thelma. Congratulations, and happy birthday to both Dan and Thelma!

"Carrie" came to DunRoamin' on November 23, 2011, along with her two kittens Chaplin and Catalina. They had come to a home in Woodstock asking for help, and the lady couldn't refuse them help, but she had five cats of her own. She fed them and kept them warm and safe while she attempted to get them help by every means available, but was unsuccessful. When the came to Woodstock, Carrie and her kittens were cold, covered with fleas, had diarrhea, were starving and one was covered in oil. Carrie is about two years old and has one blue eye. She's very affectionate and playful.

All three cats were accepted by DunRoamin', and the lady drove them to us through the first snowstorm of the year, along with two bags of cat food for them. They'd like to thank her for rescuing them from freezing and starvation.

On January 25, 2012 Carrie met a lady from Gordonsville who fell in love with her playful, loving and outgoing personality. Carrie will now live with her and her dog, and will enjoy the lively company of day care! Congratulations on getting a family, Carrie!

Brie & Havarti

"Brie" and "Havarti" were about eight weeks old when they and their sibling, Gouda came to us on June 20, 2011 from the Riverbank area.  A stray cat had carried them to a home to find shelter for them.  All were feral.  Havarti is a boy, and Brie and Gouda are girls.  These kittens were very bone, had fleas and bad upper respiratory infections.  They were terrified, but with a little love, patience and cuddling became the beautiful little kittens they were destined to be.  They were fortunate to have found a generous foster family in Perth-Andover, then they came back to us. On October 25, 2011, they went to another foster home, and . . .

. . . on January 23, 2012, their foster mother came in to adopt them. They now live in Florenceville with this family which includes two young children. Congratulations, all!

"Mr Freeze" came to us at about 5 pm on the afternoon of January 5, 2012 from Lansdowne where he had been found in the bottom of a blue plastic barrel. This barrel was much taller than what he would be able to jump up into and had water in it which had frozen. His hind legs and tail had frozen into the ice. He could not move and was very cold. His rescuer managed to free him and brought him for help. He was only about three months old.

Mr Freeze was very thin, had fleas and an eye infection. He was warmed up, given some heated food and treated for his parasites. He's a beautiful little orange boy, and he was happy to sleep on his toasty warm Snuggle Safe cuddled in a fleece blanket. He was fostered by a Vet Tech who took extra-good care of him, and as a result he has no lasting damage to his legs or tail.

On January 17, 2012, Mr Freeze was adopted by a lady in Hartland where he'll grow up as a friend for her other cat. Congratulations, Mr Freeze. You'll never be cold again!

Edna

Purrchance

"Edna" came to us from the Riverbank area on September 21, 2011 where she was a stray who was caught when it was recognized that she needed help. She was starving, had matted plant material in her coat, was not spayed, had ear mites and was diagnosed with coccidia and toxoplasmosis. She was skin and bones. She was about four years old.

"Purrchance" came to us four days later on the evening of September 25, 2011 from the same area. He had been seen sitting in the warmth of some steps in the morning sun, and people had tried to help him, but he was terrified, and ran off. A live trap was set for him, and at about 10 pm, he was caught. Purrchance was very matted, starving and had coccidia, a very unpleasant ailment which entails a lot of diarrhea and acute discomfort. He was treated for all his maladies and he's now fine.

We believe Purrchance and Edna recognized each other as siblings and they sleep and cuddle together and are never far apart. They are both long-haired tabbies and both love to be brushed. Although they were initially quite scared, they are very laid back and content, knowing that they're safe and loved now.

On January 10, 2012, Edna was invited to come visit a family who has recently lost several of their older cats and their remaining cat, Lily, was lonely. It went so well that the people returned on January 16, 2012 to take Purrchance to rejoin his sister and be part of this new family. We're so very happy that you're back together and that you have such a wonderful family. Please write often.

"Robin" came to us on August 15, 2011 from Jacksonville where she had been found in a barn all by herself.  She had fleas and ear mites, but all were treated and she quickly became healthy.  She was very, very hungry and smelled like motor oil, so it's possible she had gotten into the engine of a vehicle, and if that's the case, she's fortunate to be uninjured.

Robin is very happy to have food and friendship.  She lived in a foster home in Jacksonville where she quickly made friends with all the humans, canines and other felines who already lived there.

On January 14, 2012, Robin went to live in her forever home with a friend of her foster mother in Pleasant Villa, NB. She'll have the family she's always wanted, and the life she's always deserved. Please send us a photo, Robin.

Soya & Anna Molly

Vader

These two black beauties are "Soya" and her daughter "Anna Molly." On September 7, 2010, a lady had received a phone call from tenants of a mini home in East Brighton, NB who had moved out without proper notice.  They told her that they had left their cats behind in the unoccupied and unlocked home.

She immediately went to the home where she found a total of eleven abandoned cats and kittens. It appeared that mom Soya, who was only about a year old, had had two litters of kittens.  The youngest litter contained two boys and four girls. Anna Molly was one of them, as was her brother Vader.  They were generously fostered by some very strong pet lovers and DunRoamin' supporters in Perth-Andover.  We're ever so grateful, Jordan and Jennifer.

On January 11, 2012, Soya and Anna Molly met their new family, a wonderful couple from Upper Kent. On December 19, 2011, they had adopted Vader, now renamed Salem, and were so taken with him that they wanted to give the remaining two members of his family a permanent home. We are SO grateful! Write often, and please send lots of photos!

Meet "Elsie." On June 21, 2010, a mom, Elsie, and her five little kittens from the Woodstock area were accepted by DunRoamin. Elsie was a stray, but as she had no one to care for her and had never been spayed, she had kittens, and they needed homes.  Spike was the only male.  The others were Littlefoot, Ducky, Sarah and Petri.  They were born about the middle of May, 2010, and all found homes.  Elsie was only about a year and a half old.

Elsie was a little timid at first, but that was only because she was in a new situation, and she quickly became comfortable.  She learned to fit in very well with lots of cats, and now wouldn't mind living with one or two others, if someone would give her the opportunity.

On January 9, 2012, a lady and her friend travelled all the way from Cap Pele, NB to take Elsie home with her. Elsie is ecstatic, as are we. Elsie will be her new best friend, and she's looking forward to watching a lot of TV on her lap. Thanks, Charline, for choosing her and for coming all this way to pick her up. Be a good girl, Elsie! Don't forget to write!

"Ivana" came to DunRoamin' on November 1, 2011. She had been seen near the Carleton/Victoria county line since early August, but it took some people a long time to catch her. She had three kittens, all of whom have found homes. Ivana is about one year old, and she likes dogs.

Ivana was examined and found to be a little small for her age. She had coccidia, which was treated. She was not interested in eating, and was fed by syringe to ensure she got the nutrition she required to stay healthy. She showed very little interest in playing or interacting with others. But that was then, and this is now. She's very affectionate, attentive, loving and playful. She's perfect!

On January 3, 2011 a lady came to take Ivana home with her. She has one dog who likes cats, and since Ivana likes dogs, they'll get along great! Ivana now lives happily ever after in Bath.
